Today I bought..

a green cock...

Why, who knows?
Isn’t he the most handsome brute of a bird?
Made by Dartmouth pottery.

    1. I seem to be going through a green phase, no idea why? He is very fine and will look good in amongst my orchids which are slowly preparing to flower after far too long.

  2. Something has stolen all the baby quince from one of my trees.:( Just watch that your cock doesn't develop a taste for orchids.

    1. Your hens maybe? No quince jelly in Owl Wood Towers this year? Oh dear!

    2. Alas! No hens now, they all keeled over and haven't been replaced. Luckily the other quince, in another part of the garden still has plenty. I am on high alert, suspicious of anything that moves in the vicinity. Green cockerels are top of the suspect list.

    3. Never trust a green cockerel... it’s well known fact in ancient woodland folklore.

  3. Oooohhh I love him! Will he live indoors - the ravages of the weather won't do his plumage any good, I'm sure. I'm an impulse buyer, too, which can lead to some silly choices, but then again if it brings me pleasure for a while, it can usually be found a good home elsewhere. However, I suspect that your cockerel will be a keeper.

  4. No he won’t be allowed out. He is definitely a keeper, he is a fine fellow. I will take a photo when he is finally in situ.
