I’m bored...

Ellie is being a princess.
The sourdough cheffette i.e. me isn’t doing it right, although the starter doesn't seem to notice!
The dog behaviourist came yesterday and you wouldn’t believe the things we’re doing wrong?
Himself gets grumpier by the minute, his usual charm isn’t working on the dog.  In recent times it has worked on the dogs he has met in the past... present company accepted of course!
This having a dog lark seems to be working at total odds to what even in today’s paper the experts say how much they enhance your lives!?!  Our partnership is rapidly needing marriage guidance.  He will I am sure willing give me custody of the dog as she just doesn’t seem to trust him.  A gentler man you couldn’t wish to meet.  Meanwhile me, a barrel of noise, larger than life and with exuberance oozing from every pore
of the ancient old bod, she somehow seems to love.  Weird or what?  He gets fed up, I get cross at his expression which Ellie picks up as he scowls when he thinks neither of us are looking. She watches him like a hawk.

Is it any wonder I’m b o r e d ?

    1. Yes, perhaps I can grow patience like sourdough starter? A good point nevertheless!

  4. Oh dear......it is so easy to get things wrong when dealing with dogs. I seem to have brought up a very well adjusted dog from puppyhood, but he was always a laid back little fella even as a pup. I did discover along the way that I was doing some things wrong......it is impossible to think like a dog! Having said that, there is a man he def. dislikes. I vaguely know the man, so wasn't bothered when he appeared by a lake that we used to go to, but the young dog, as he was then, just went mental, barking at him, and more or less chased him away. He now spots him from hundred of yards off and starts barking. Luckily we don't see the man very often!! I even gave the man a treat to give Lex last time, but he wouldn't go near. Very odd. I hope that the dog behaviourist can help. I love the " photo". How was that done? x

    1. The thing is... I always thought dogs were such a good judge of character, however I know first hand what a kind and gentle man he is so I have had to revise my opinion. Our joiner who she did with time get used to, said maybe he looks very much like the man that had given her such an awful time? She does look people in the eye all the time, the behaviourist drew this to our attention, suggesting we not look directly back at her. She is slowly thawing with him. With me she is starting to play games and not run off with the ball as she has until now. Progress.

  5. How are things going with the 'plinky-plonk' contraption? Does it work? I ask because having had my rescue dog for over 2 years now, I still haven't got over the problem of going anywhere without him. I'm resigned to going ALL my shopping online (no more browsing round shops for me)because if he can't go, then I can't go. Last evening, I chanced my arm - he'd been fed and walked, so I nipped to the village shop; it took less than 10 minutes. I came back to sh . . . poo in the hall and a piddle puddle on the bathroom mat. Aaaarrrggghhh!

    1. Well, we think it works? The only time we have used it she was quite happy on our return, no barking, just a happy to see us dog. Tonight we put it to the test again as we are going out with friends for supper. I will put it on before we go and give her a scarf I have been wearing, so she has a comfort blanket type soother. I will report back here, on our return.

    2. Just in from evening out to all quiet, so I guess the plinky-plonky machine is working it’s magic.

  6. Thank you so much; I'm now going to order one. I'll let you know how it goes. I do hope it has the desired effect on Benji.

    1. We are sat here with it on, waiting to stroll up to the Assembly Rooms to see the Lowry film. Not only is the dog chilled, I can hardly keep my eyelids to open, so it must be working on me too! Be sure to read the blurb as to the best way to use it. We always condition the dog by having it on before we need it then turn it off for a few hours and on again as we go. I think I read somewhere, this is so they don’t associate it specifically with you leaving. It’s all there for you to swot up on. Good luck, I hope it works...
