I don’t think I will...

blog today and here’s the reason why...

Hope you can read it?

Makes you stop and think?  I’ve never had any truck with Facebook and now I know why.  It has always seemed to me real life is on hold while we all live vicariously through others and their lives, and what they think of us and ours.  While what is actually happening has past us by never to be recaptured.

Did make me laugh though!  And obviously blogging doesn’t count!

  1. Blogging definitely doesn't count! I look at FB but I rarely put anything of my own on there....just the odd comment or " like". It is useful to keep up with what is happening in the area on all the group pages!

    1. Blogging definitely doesn’t count... I agree!?! Don’t like the ‘Like’ because I think it harbours insecurity, just my personal opinion...

  2. That is so funny! Family members kept urging us to get on Facebook, so my husband down-loaded it onto his phone. It is useful for keeping up with people a long distance away, but what a load of rubbish pings up! Life is just too short....

    1. I couldn’t agree more, folk need to get a real life and not waste the precious one they are living and breathing. NOW!

  3. Love it! Years ago friends insisted that I needed to be on Facebook - I lasted about 6 months and then cancelled it! It was just overload - and really - my life isn't all that interesting - and I certainly don't need to impose it on others.

Unfortunately I may have to rejoin as so many things - even work related - link through Facebook these days - I find it very frustrating that I'm being forced into this!

    1. I joined briefly for a day and a half then thought stuff this for a game of soldiers and flounced off in a hissy fit... never to return.

  4. I like Facebook! However, I only have about 15 friends on it and they are 'real' friends. I first joined when my son went on a round the world gap year trip. It was an easy way for him to share his photographs with us, especially as he was in places where it was hard to get phone calls, he'd upload photos when he had a signal. I enjoy it as most of my page is full of businesses I like now. For example I just came across a wonderful Christmas shop which is actually in the Isle of Wight and although they have a website I'd never heard of them. I have now 'liked' their page on Facebook and get to see all the lovely things they have in their shop. I found out our local pet shop was closing from their facebook page and I heard the local teashop was closing for good and wanted to give away lots of mismatched plates and cups - it just so happened I was looking for those very things and got some lovely stuff I wouldn't have known about otherwise! None of my friends post about their dinner or what they are doing, mostly we all just share jokes and stupid stuff for a laugh and a couple of long lost school friends found me through Facebook. I think like most social media, if you use it properly it can be very rewarding. Not to mention I'm a nosy old bat who loves reading about other peoples lives!! x

  7. Like others, I like to give my opinion as well.
First of all, you can set Facebook to "private", meaning only your friends and family can see what you post. I have Facebook to keep in touch with family and friends in my home country. Personally I think it is more private than a blog!
Just this morning I uploaded a little video for my
Sister in Germany to view!.... The time I spend on Facebook is not any longer than drinking a cup of coffee.
Also I like to mention that years ago, there where these "chat rooms"... you could select the county you wanted participate in, I chose Germany. I was chatting many hours wile my husband was on business trips. It sure helped with the loneliness, and I made some friends at the same time. Also, I find Skype a fantastic tool to communicate, special now with the covet situation. My daughter lives close to us ...but we don't see each other often. I haven't seen my Grad sons for month in person but at least we can meet on Skype.
We are the bosses of ourselves and as long as we enjoy what were doing... keep on doing it! Never mind about others, what they say and think about you. I always say, if they don't pay my mortgage, hydro, etcetera, it's none of they're business!

  8. Facebook just seems to lead to a lot of misunderstandings. I am taking a vacation from it. It might well turn out to be permanent.

  9. I use fb to keep in contact with friends and family around the world and also have an artist page..but that is getting less useful thanks to fb changes.
Blogs, websites and forums (fora?)are far more useful as you can look back on something..very difficult on fb
