What Lettice did next...

meditation, mindfulness, medication?
My blood pressure is still too high. Not hugely, but enough for the doctors to prescribe yet more drugs, of which I ought to say I am anti.  Having worked in our village doctors for a few years I saw what sway the drug companies had in the
inducements they offered.

‘See what toys they have for the children will you L?’

You know J, there is no such thing as a free lunch!’ I would reply.

Soft toys were just the tip of the iceberg, ‘training’ days for the staff, where the reps would come along with buffet food were a monthly occurrence.
And of course the money paid for their drugs to be pushed.

Drug dealers of a professional kind.

Being such a cynic probably isn’t helping my B.P. what do you think?

  1. I think you need to remove salt, cheese and bread from your diet and lots of oats, fruit greens, red meat, Mr Pig and do more walking.
Well, that's what I did and still do of course but then I am almost perfect :-)

  2. You and me both kid! Well almost?! Being a retired chef I do know where I am going wrong. Our diet is perfect with lots of fish, very little red meat, oodles of vegetables and fruit. However I would rather have cheese than chocolate, cakes and bought in meals we never have. I make my own whole meal bread... a veritable paragon! I am also considered a binge drinker... only drinking at the weekend, certainly no more than two bottles from Friday to Sunday night. Hardly fall-downable boozer? I have gone from white to red wine and of course living here we are walking on average three miles every day, and this is just day to day pottering around Hythe. Out for a ‘walk’ we think nothing of six+ miles. My high blood pressure I am sure is courtesy of my father. That and a mere sensation of stress as to whether we have done the right thing leaving our lovely country cottage? There you have it... simple really!

    1. Right in one Mel! My decision is to carry on as before taking my b.p. occasionally and chill out, not get stressed. As long as everything is ticking along nicely... never darken their door: be interesting to see how long if ever, they take to check me out?

    1. I envy you John, it is obvious the love of your dogs brings you great joy. I would as you may remember love a dog. The pain is still with me of making the decision to end the life of the most loyal friend I’ve ever had. I made the man promise me he wouldn’t relent when I inevitably angled for another dog.. Nearily four years on the time is rapidly approaching. Thus far he is holding strong and in fairness I haven’t pushed it. My main worry is I would be constantly comparing to my past wonderful chum. That wouldn’t be fair. The other thing is we no only have a garden to speak off, although the sea is just across the road.

Like you say animals have a positive effect on b.p. and that may be the way to convince him! Underhand, but hey I’ve never been a shrinking violet, hardly going to start at this late stage.

      Happy you’re back.
