The threadbare fairy wishes you a...

Happy Christmas!
These are the Christmas cards I sent this year.
2018, an interesting year for me, like the curate’s egg... good in parts.

The good I have taken from this year is to slow down, meditate and hand sew ‘odd’ things (strangely calming: weird or what?)  My health was suffering from being all things to all men.  Or at least trying to be!
The meditation has brought about changes that I can hardly believe.
I feel evangelical about it.
Try it!
Have a super Christmas and a happy and healthy new year.

  1. Beautiful work. Slowing and not rushing is good.

    1. I hardly recognise myself, this totally chilled person that has invaded my ole bod? It sure is good, a new woman... maybe?

  2. Happy Christmas LL, and a Happy New Year.

She is a characterful beauty - are those wings made from crepe bandage? I adore her Nora Batty tights, too! You have set my fingers longing to start stitching. Enjoy the rest of the holidays and keep up the good work. xx

    1. Yes they certainly are crepe bandage, I squirrel away bits and pieces, quite the Silas Marner of the fabric stash, me!

A bit like seeing someone knitting, gets you thinking there just might be one more arran jumper in me to knit? Or maybe not!

  3. I love your threadbare fairy. I'm glad you are enjoying meditation and feeling the benefits of doing it. I think in 2019 I'm going to have to find my own meditation, I get far too anxious about things these days and it has to stop! I hope you had a lovely Christmas day and are looking forward to your new adventures next year. xx

    1. Just today, Boxing day I woke at 6 am with the same slightly anxious thoughts. Then I realised that on Christmas day I hadn’t found the time for my usual meditation. If that doesn’t tell you something Marksgran, I don’t know what does? All the doubts and nigardly thoughts creep back, so I suggest for calm and contentment make the time in each day. It has certainly worked for me.

  4. I love the fairy. How many did you make? Just one must take ages!
Is it easy to explain exactly what you do for your " meditation" ? I think it would be good for me to do too. X

  5. Hello Frances, I made seven, well to be exact I made six. Some very dear friends I completely forgot, so sent them a bought card with the immortal words I am afraid you have been relegated from the A team to the B team hence this card. She took it well, laughing at my offer of sending her a photo of what she had missed! I felt so guilty so am now making a seventh one which I will give her when I see her on new year’s eve.

Yes they do take quite a while: however I get a great deal of enjoyment finding odds and ends of worn tray cloths, bits of ribbon and stuff that most folk would chuck out. My self righteousness knows no bounds!

Give the meditation a go, there are hundreds to listen to, just google and up pops lots of youtube videos. Mooji is a favourite of mind, not everyone’s cup of tea. I honestly can’t tell you what a huge effect meditating has had on my life. Give it a go, what have you got to lose?
