Lots of things...

first and foremost...
sorry I can’t reply to my comments.  The weird thing is I can do this?  Once I have posted, I will endeavour to reply as Lettice, thus far I am stuck as reply as google account which won’t accept me.  No names, no pack drill, however it goes back to a man trying to be helpful and getting me more email addresses than is good for a girl!?!  Well that is if you are honest and really don’t need to be one step ahead of the law?  Even techwhizzes can’t get me back on the straight and narrow, so what hope for a  quill-toting lass?

We are well ahead with the packing; we leave here on Wednesday to arrive in Ludlow on the following Wednesday, our furniture arriving the next day.  This allows us time to walk the course and finally decide where the many and various treasures (alright to some, old toot!?!) can
 go.

My plants are going to be a worry! The huge palm I have arranged with my removal beau to put in their reception. You just wouldn’t believe the price I had to pay for this concession!!!?!!!  My odd unusual triffid like succulents are coming with us in the car.  What they will make of being in such a hostile environment, baked
in the sun, chilled in the night, heaven only knows?  I will cover them with fleece to protect.  Hubs just wishes I loved him enough to lavish such care on his ancient bod!

This is what I plan to call the Wrenery.  Why?  As we sat talking to the vendors the last time we viewed the cottage, I watched a wren bobbing along the space between the stones in the wall.  Each end is open and I can see us having our breakfast out there most sunny mornings.  To call it a lean-to just doesn’t have the same
style and panache!  As I have made style over substance so much part of my life it seems only
right!
Saturday I am off to have an MRI scan on my knee and lumber spine. I have been on our osteopath’s rack and in just a week have gone from 5’4” to 6’2” At this rate I can see myself strutting my streamline bod. down the runway at the Milan fashion show!

  1. Oh I love 'The Wrenery' and hope you have a resident pair of wrens nesting near (or within) that stone wall. Breakfast out there on a warm, sunny morning sounds idyllic. I wish you all the best with your move and may the plants all adapt nicely to their new surroundings. Being 6ft 2", will you fit into that scanning contraption?

    1. I did fit into the scanner, just!

The excitement levels are rising, see below for the plants update. Our backseat has the more unusual and exotic hanging plants, although how they will cope with the changing night and day temperatures, only time will tell. The huge palm was sent with much instruction on my part to treat it well as I loved it more than Hubs? A tin of exciting choccie biscuits accompanied it by way of a little light bribery! I’m nothing if not a tart of the first Order!?!

  2. I love wrens and wish there were more here by me. But sparrows to watch are equally entertaining. You have moving well in hand; I hope all continues well.

    1. Wrens are lovely birds, the world who be a even more grim than it is now without the presence of all birds!

We are on way, this time next week we will be in residence, alright in the midst of many and various boxes, however who cares, we can take our time and just be... a good place to be!

  3. Good to hear that the moving plans are progressing.
We lived by a wren's nest two houses ago..it was fascinating to watch...lucky you!
Best of luck with the scans. It feels so good after being manipulated does it not...having all the knots eased and relaxing into uprightness!

    1. We are on way... Yesterday, as we pulled away I could hardly believe the day had finally arrived?

Still waiting for the scan results. It is better, however all the packing and cleaning that goes with moving house hasn’t helped. I wouldn’t mind but I could have reclined on a chaise with my poorly knee raised and feebly requested he peel me the odd grape or two... no chance as I was keen to be up and at’em in readiness for the off!

Osteopath appointment is already made for my arrival in Ludlow. Is this a mark of what to expect as decrepitude takes its toll?

  4. Not long now.....I think I told you our move took 2 days, and it was in January and very cold......my plants were all in the removal van and I lost quite a few of them to the below zero temps. Hope you are not living in the car for a week? Your " wrenery" looks delightful.Does it lead into a garden? Not long now and you will be sitting in it for brekkie.

    1. We are on way and all the plants have been carefully taken to the depot and the huge palm is gracing the reception, the outside plants are being left out in the yard, so I really couldn’t ask for a better firm.

Just bought a wren’s nesting and roosting thingy... bit like a bird’s premier inn type of thing!

I can hardly contain myself... brekkie in the wrenery... what nicer?

  5. Sorry I've been offline. On the day of my dads funeral last Thursday I went down with flu (fortunately able to hold it together until after the wake - just as well it was a morning funeral!). I've never had flu before and I hope never to have it again. I'm still struggling to eat properly and have no energy whatsover however at long last I can lift my head off the pillow and even get up without feeling like I might keel over. I'm not out of the woods yet but at least I'm on my way out! I just want to say a big GOOD LUCK for the move. I hope all the plants survive and more I hope you survive the stress! Take good care of yourselves for the next wee while as I'm sure between stress and tiredness you'll find life a bit touchier than normal!! Stay calm and breath. xx

  6. Don’t look now girls but I am back! Suddenly on arriving in Warwick on the second night of the road trip I am now able to reply as Lettice!

Thank you so much for your good wishes Marksgran especially after all you have been through. You got through the funeral and then faded... what a hero. I well remember going to the doctors and saying I think I’ve had flu, her reply was you don’t think you’ve had flu... you know! And I guess you can second that? Sounds horrendous, Poor lass!

I will post more news when we finally get to Ludlow, thank you for thinking of us, it is much appreciated.
