Two weeks on...

Wednesday will see us gone... I can hardly believe it.
Our buyers came to view on Friday, we haven’t seen them for months.  Then a call from the people who bought our last cottage to ask if it was convenient for them to visit. Their first... how strange was that?
Both sets of buyers were the first to view and decided there and then.  With all the hassle we have had with this transaction I just couldn’t get it out of my head that lightning doesn’t strike twice in the same place!
It did!  Added to which Geoff coming from Goudhurst seemed to have a comfort blanket effect on my worries that we should never have left.  His visit squared the circle allowing me to kick the regrets into touch and move on.

I am also happy to announce I am now back in Google’s good favour and am allowed to comment as me again!

A win-win situation.

A lovely photograph of Lettice who I take my blog name from.
Much loved and sadly missed

  1. For someone always partial to collies, Lettice has a soothing presence. Who is Geoff, please? A missing detail, though returning sends such a happy note over the the post. A toast to Wednesday, hard work as it will be.

    1. Geoff is the guy who bought our last cottage. They lived next door and summer 2017 phoned to say they were off on holiday. I said ‘Don’t be surprised to see a for sale sign outside on your return. They came around that evening and made an offer the next day. We haven’t seen them since we left. Although I was delighted they bought it I was very sad to go. I have often asked myself since why did we sell? His arrival here on the day our buyers were here seemed to me to draw a line in the sand under the whole affair. Leaving me free to enjoy the next chapter without looking back with regrets.

    2. I am certainly feeling a lot brighter, it is funny the way things work out. And for you too. I am sure your dad did wait for you to come home. How do you now feel about things?

    3. Sad but glad. I wished he'd close his eyes and not waken up on many occasions recently but I don't feel bad about that as he had no quality of life whatsoever. I'm also very glad I took all the advice I was given from yourself and others to just go to Australia. We had the most relaxing time even though I got many phone calls to tell me how bad things were at home and I think being so relaxed will help me to deal with the official side of dying now! My head is spinning with the amount of people I've to phone or visit or make an appointment to see. Thankfully hubby has written it down for me! Not long now till your adventure begins, I'm very excited for you and I'm glad to hear you feel much better now. Take care. x

  3. Ooh, exciting. Lovely Lettice....looks a lot like Cro's Billy?
Some years ago my friends round the corner had 2 springers named Henry and Lettice!
Hope the move is easily accomplished. Our last move 40 yrs ago was from Morpeth to here ( Harpenden...it took 2 days because of the distance involved ) and it was the only time ever that removal men went on strike !! We were moved by the finance director and the MD I think. They got some help when here as London men were not striking!
The MD , who drove the articulated truck ( yes it was a big one!!) stayed overnight at a local hotel. He asked for help parking and got a few weird looks until they went outside and saw what he was driving.

    1. I have always loved the name Lettice, if I had a daughter I would have called her Lettice. Such a pretty name,

Our move will be leave here on the 17th, move into Ludlow on the 25th... far from ideal however it hasn’t been the easiest of transactions. We just feel relieved we have finally got it sorted!

Sounds like you had fun with your move, no wonder you haven’t been in a rush to repeat the process!
