I feel like a...

time traveller... from this

a little light tapestry in the garden of the cottage...
to this, the glorious weather we had...

to this,

one damp dog home at last after this morning us picking her up from the kennels.

As you can see she wasn’t very impressed with the shower given to her as a welcome home present... boy did she niff!

  1. I can see "niff" was not in her vocabulary, either.

  2. She looks very cosy. Good to have you all back where you belong. Hope you enjoyed your hols. Serious training now for the doglet?
I am lucky that schnauzers don't smell at all.....even when wet...which he might well be in the next half hour if the sky is anything to go by!!

  4. The holiday landscape looks fabulous, as does the log fire and a dog who will probably not move ever!

    1. None of us are going anywhere, smug in the know.edge we have honoured all of our commitments. So hunker down and enjoy the town and most importantly our new addition to the family... one very scared dog, who is a sweet girl with so much potential.

    1. Weren’t we? The weather was fab in Scotland as having lived up on the NW coast I know so well can surprise you. It didn’t disappoint.

It is so good to be home and cosy too... more news of our exploits to come...

  6. Ellie looks very much at home by the fire - but how was she in the kennels? Was she upset at being left by her new family? I hope it hasn't affected her in a negative way and that future training can improve her confidence and behaviour. Good luck!

    1. I cried when I left her and cried even harder when I saw her in her kennel. She was a bit out of sorts when she got back, the shower didn’t help, but she did pong of kennel so it had to be done. We are all happy now to settle in for the winter and the serious training of the three of us gets under way.

  7. First time comment, I have been reading about your new canine house mate she looks so sweet, poor little girl, I do hope that she will learn to love and trust you both soon, but I know it can take a long time. A family friend has recently given a home to a retired Greyhound bitch, she is I gather very sweet and gentle and settling well into her new routine. It seems that they have bought something called a Lickimat, on which you can spread a suitable treat such as peanut butter (no Zylitol), it takes ages for her to lick off the treat and is a great distraction and reward when they go out and leave her. Apologies if you know of these, or you think not suitable. Your holiday venue looks wonderful.

    1. Thank you for your first time comment. I have seen those Lickimat things and will give it a try. We have kong which I stuff with whatever human treats we have to hand, cheese, maybe cocktail sausages which I ought to say we have bought especially for her, in order for Hubs to win her over! A bit of naked bribery and corruption, if it does the trick, so be it.

We had a lovely if hectic time, so glad to get back home and to settle in our new home with new furry addition!

    1. Very pleased to see me, but still scared and a little flat, not knowing what was going to happen next? Now we are all relieved to be settled and ready for full on training.
