are coming... we’ve found her.
A very nervous collie who hasn’t like so many surplus to farm life, had the best of starts. She is 12 months old and does not for one moment trust that species that claim to be of higher intelligence? The rescue centre have found out that she had been fitted with a shock collar. To fit one of these forms of torture on the most intelligent of dogs just beggars belief?
I knew just as I did when I saw the photograph of this cottage that she was THE one for us. Call me a witchy-poo, I don’t care!
The husband felt exactly the same! Although with the cottage he did say
‘They’ll be plenty more!’
There weren’t and after lots of upheaval we finally got here, it was meant to be.
We go back lots of times to visit her and to build up her trust in us.
She is the sweetest, gentlest of dogs.
Female collies = the most intelligent and loving dogs in the world. You will have huge fun
ReplyDeleteYes Sue, as you will see on my sidebar she is very similar to my other collie. Not the same and I will not compare, as she is a very different dog. It won’t be easy as I loved Lettice so much: after six years, I feel ready to give another ill treated collie a loving home... can’t wait.

That news has given me a big smile and a tear in the eye!!. When do you get her? What is her name...or will you change it? You can swap notes with Cro!
ReplyDeleteI shall be losing the little Yorkie who has been living here for several years as her elderly owner passed away 2 weeks ago. We don't want the expense of 2 dogs and I have found her a lovely new home nearby so I can still see her sometimes. It will be hard to say goodbye though..yappy little madam that she is!!
You and me both Frances... at last. Good news about Ms Yappy.

I'm pleased you've found YOUR dog, with no hesitation. She looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteOur current rescue Irish Setter is afraid of loud bangs. As we live in a rural countryside area it tends to be a problem due to grouse shooting season (which we don't approve of). He came over from Ireland, bred by a farmer who, we believe, treated him roughly to get him used to guns. Consequently he's a quivering wreck if he hears any loud bangs and that includes car doors being shut loudly or thunder, which we've had a lot of lately and even the sound of wind in the chimney. We do our best consoling him, but it's no good when he can hear the bangs.
The things human beings do to animals and their fellow man is unspeakable.

she looks a good 'un...best wishes for the de-stressing....
ReplyDeleteShe really is the sweetest gentlest of dogs. Just a joy and one who although she looks very similar to my much loved and still horribly missed special girl, I know I will not compare, it wouldn’t be fair to her or to me!

Thank goodness you have found her. Definitely not an easy option, but I bet you can make her whole and happy again, in time.
ReplyDelete(May the bustards who fitted that device to her have one fitted to their dangly bits.)
As you know only too well Elaine, it has been a long journey to this point and I very much feel the time is right... at last!
DeleteShock collar: what were they thinking of? It doesn’t bear thinking of. Is there any wonder she is so afraid?

Oh that is wonderful news! She looks adorable. I love the keyhole marking on her face! I wish you all many years of happiness together. xx
ReplyDeleteYes it does look like a keyhole, I would never have thought of that; every time I look at her now MG I will think of you.
