The samovar,..

 the dried sourdough starter,

and...

the waiting to be fitted water feature.

A snapshot of my rackety life!

I watch Gardeners’ World and think I ought to garden, I get hugely fired up.  Come Saturday morning the desire has wilted like        Ash Die Back.

I watched last night the wonderful programme on Alexander McQueen and yes you’ve guessed it I got fired up to sew!  Come this morning with the card for Hope my granddaughter’s birthday sitting beside my chair, I hardly have the energy to pick up the needle.

All my life I have gone at everything in similar vein to a bull at a high wire compound fence. Until now, when I have hit the buffers of life... BIG TIME.  Is it me or the world we find ourselves in, I idly wonder?

And other ruddy thing can anyone tell me why out of the blue the size of ‘my pearls of wisdom’ prose jumps in size between me previewing the post and it actually flying live into the ether?

  1. Your samovar looks fabulous. What do you do with dried sourdough starter? A water feature is a lovely addition to a garden, the sound of water running is very relaxing.
Like you I set out in the morning full of plans of the things I will do, but then I sit and very (very) slowly eat breakfast while I read what the eejit across the pond is up to, then I sit some more and by the time its time I should be dressed and facing the day, its coffee time so no time to do the morning stuff. Then the afternoon is of a similar pattern. I'm not complaining, its nice in the slow lane until I really really need to get stuff done, then I'm like a whirling dervish! As for your prose - nope, no idea! It looks fine to me though. xx

    1. Oh dear MG you obviously don’t read my blog thoroughly cos I devoted a whole post to just that... bringing my dried sourdough back to life! Worrying far too much about the American election are we? It did make me laugh about your very exacting morning schedule, it sounds very much like many millions of households across the world.

    2. Oh, I must have missed the bit about the starter being dried, I thought starter was just a muddy looking puddle in a jar!! I just thought it had stopped bubbling or something! You're right I probably didn't read it properly! Might be one I skim read on my phone! Sourdough starters are not my favourite subject even though your bread looks delicious! To be honest, I'm not worrying that much about the elections though I think we've all about had it if the Wotsit gets in again! There's always our own eejits to worry about too!! I consider myself chastised and won't skim read your posts again maam!! Forelock tugged!! xx

  2. The samovar looks lovely with the plant in it!... As far as the energy we have after the age of 75, I think most of us women like to do things at a more slower pace, my sister is the opposite, she's 83 and thinks she is the energy bunny!
As far as your sourdough goes, your report on it is very interesting but not detailed enough for me to jump on the sourdough bandwagon.
Will you be able to complete the water feature before winter sets in? My favorite thing in the garden is a water fountain!...Don't forget to take a pic. of the card your making, when finished!.... What is the status of the rat situation? My husband just killed a rat, she was hiding in our B.Q!

    1. Quids down the line, no rat has been harmed during the making of this blog!

We are waiting for the electrician to call to connect the outside power then probably mothball the millstone until Spring.

Surprisingly the card has been started and I am quite pleased with the result. After a dispirited start to the day progress was made, albeit haltingly.

  3. If the type size has jumped about (and it does sometimes and I don't know why), highlight all the typing of the blog, go to the T in the tool bar across the top, and select the size type you want. Hit enter and presto chango, all is right again. If you ever learn why type sizes change, you'll let us know.

    1. Even doing that it still does it’s own thing. Must say I can’t really complain because that has been my MO all my life. I will let you know if and when I do crack the code.

  4. The samovar looks great with the plant in it.
I repotted a succulent yesterday and considered it a busy day!! (I did also walk the dog twice, and make 2 meals)

A year has gone by...

and the sourdough saga continues, nothing much changes, apart maybe my level of frustration at my tarnished bread making skills of a ferment...
