My latest love...

a chair, not any old chair, a rather special chair as you can see!
Man has given up asking where my latest treasure will go for fear of my showing him!?!
I saw it in the window of my favourite shop in Hythe.  Stood forlorn with its back to the window, a shy and retiring little number.  The moment I clapped eyes on it my heart flew out of my chest.  I was all for camping in the doorway in case anyone else would beat me to it?  Himself assured me that probably not many folk in Hythe would fall as madly, deeply as I had done!?!  Dragging me home, my heels making track marks in the pavement to equal the rails on the
Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch
railway.  I know you will have to use a little imagination here as how can deep troughs rival tracks? You get my drift, I’m sure!
Not so sure you will see the beauty in the chair though and no, in answer to your unspoken question I don’t plan to do anything with it other than park my bott in it!

  1. I can see the beaty in your chair. It is wonderful, pretty and very speciel. It can be a bit strange when others don't se the beauty that we see. I too have that problem. The husbond don't get. What do you want to use it for, he asked. It is dirty or ugly or just strange he thinks when I fall in love with different thing. Last time it was an old birdcage. We see the beaty in the things other people don't see.jubii for us because we are unik and speciel.

    1. A lovely comment Lina, thank you. It is so good that not many of us see beauty in things that other folk think is just a load of rubbish. The world would be a very boring place if we all conformed. My friends do have a good old laugh at my ‘treasures’. My man like I suspect yours, love us just the way we are. Stay special and let’s celebrate our good fortune to have such style and panache!

    1. Bottoms don’t grow this wide either Joanne! I will know when I stand up and the chair comes with me I will need to lose some weight!?! In the meantime I am one happy bunny. Glad you like it.

  3. Bird poo or paint? Nice chair, no matter which!

    1. Paint. The worn off original paint on the arms and the seat and the back, give it such a worldly air. The splatters speak: the chair like me has been around the course a few times and it gives me such joy in these Audrey troubled times. It is just so blooming cheerful in its battered glory. The ugly duckling will never turn into a swan, not on my watch anyway!

  5. I'm sorry Lettice, I have to be honest and say I'm not seeing the beauty. Are you going to give it a make over?

  6. Polly, I am happy you feel able to voice your opinion on this wonderous chair! In answer to your question... a resounding NO! I love it just the way it is... no accounting for taste I hear you thinking!?!

    1. Hi Lettice, no I really wasn't thinking that, I'm smiling because I knew you wouldn't mind me being honest :-) x

    2. Of course I don’t mind, why would I? I love hearing honest comments, the world is too full of weasel words! Keep it up lassie...

  7. Oh what a sturdy chair it is, and I wonder about its history. Who all have been sitting in it? Tis a mystery.

    1. Indeed it is! Like you I love to imagine the stories old furniture and particularly old cottages could tell. Births, deaths, marriages and conception... the latter not easy on this particular item!?!
