blogging...

twitter, facebook, mobile phones.
Why do we have this incessant need to communicate?

Driving, even walking in the middle of nowhere you pass people on the phone...why?  What is so important you run the danger of killing someone on the road by not paying full attention.  Or that spoils your enjoyment of peace and tranquility of the countryside?

I think I like blogging until suddenly I stop and think, what is the purpose?  I read other people’s blogs and comment, why do I do that?  Communication overdrive.  The minutiae of other folks lives is it really, really interesting?  What they had for breakfast, their thoughts on the ins and outs of a knat’s arse?  Their views on this that and the other.
The politicians thinking to regulate the press when there is the power of the internet in all
its forms, why bother?
I despair at how gullible we all are.

  1. I blog because I just like writing, so my blog is an on line diary and more interesting than a paper diary because of the photos and feedback.(and I rarely mention what I ate!)

    1. That is exactly why I blog, being a blog it seems to validate it somehow?

  3. I enjoy intelligent blogs like yours, I often learn something but why do people put photos of their blisters on a blog or describe in great details the contents of their noses or how much they spent on food for a week, who cares, not me.

    1. I enjoy giving the inner workings of my head an airing, that’s why I do it and in the main enjoy it. Although sometimes I have a wobble like today and question just exactly what we are all wasting our time on?

  4. Agree with Heron, things bubble inside and ones nearest and dearest occasionally gets bored with ones twitterings! And to be fair is it not a reaching out to others as well?

  5. I don't have a blog, but I have thought about it. I am a blog follower and occasionally comment if something interests me or someone needs some kind of emotional support.
The reason I follow quite a few blogs is because I am disabled and unable to go out into the big wide world on my own. I have been following a few blogs for years and look upon them as friends as I'm unable to make new ones face to face. I may be physically disabled, but my mind is still active and I have interests and opinions which I will share on a blog if need be, like now.

    1. Thank you for commenting and giving us a glimpse into your world. Somehow the comments from folk who don’t usually, pack more of a punch. When you blog and no one much replies, you look at the stats and think who the hell is reading this old tosh I am writing? It is good to know that blogs play a role in your life. Cyber chums; I like the sound of that, added to which they are cheap to run...

  7. Like " anonymous" I am a blog follower.Never had the desire to blog myself, but I really enjoy meeting new people through their postings. You are one of the new ones I have recently found and I like your posts. I sit in front of the computer with my breakfast ( usually porridge with blueberries and sultanas and benecol..not that you need to know that! )and enjoy catching up with my " friends". I envy your view of the sea, being so far inland ...Harpenden.... I don't get to the coast very often.

    1. Don’t know whether to reply to Alexi or you? The brekkie sounds delish, as I sit up in bed looking out to sea knocking out the odd post I will picture you in front of the computer with mummy bear size bowl of porridge. Just don’t spill any over the keyboard it would be a nightmare to get out from between the keys.

A year has gone by...

and the sourdough saga continues, nothing much changes, apart maybe my level of frustration at my tarnished bread making skills of a ferment...
