who needs them?
Well, she would say that wouldn’t she! Especially as so few comment on her blog!
I love the idea of blogs as a forum, with folk free to comment and express their views. Hyde Park Speakers Corner in cyber space.
All good so far?
However what really hacks me off is the weird and wonderful comments that pop up without a
cotton picking thing to do with anything you have said. Folk peddling their dubious wares.

What is that all about? Do they get trade from this? Maybe?
Or does it have a far more sinister intent?
This is exactly the thing that made me stop blogging before.
Not to put too fine a point on it ...
BLOG OFF!
Try living an honest life.
This post was prompted by a weird rambling comment left on yesterday’s blog, which now has mysteriously disappeared?
What is going on? At least thus far I haven’t got a troll...
I shouldn’t have said that!?!

Don't speak too soon Lettice. I understand from other bloggers that Trolls are hard to get rid of, so you don't want to encourage them. When I hear the word Troll I think of The Three Billy Goats Gruff.

Yes, I realise I was pushing it. Although I hope trolls look for a larger audience that I can muster?

Comments with nothing to do with your posting? Sounds like an everyday conversation with my dearly beloved! In his defence I will say that he is hard of hearing these days but he does have hearing aids, but even so! At the end of any conversation of importance, I have to check that we were both speaking about the same thing - and it is amazing how often we were not...
ReplyDeleteAs for spam and trolls, best thing that could happen would be for the three Billy goats gruff to eat them for supper.
Oh dear Elaine! I can totally relate to your dearly beloved deafness and the frustration that ensues. It is something that took me a long time to own up to. A disability that isn’t given the importance that it deserves. I can see very well and don’t need glasses and would swop it in a heartbeat for being able to hear clearly.
DeleteOn a positive note, a deaf troll wouldn’t be able to hear them Trip, trap over the rickerty, rackerty bridge!

If I get any comment other than should be I simply delete them. I've had a few choice one's in the past, lol

Yes I delete them too. Until recently I would get an email to say someone has commented on my blog. That made it easy to see what people had written, trouble now is that doesn’t happen, so I have to keep an eagle eye out for these very iffy comments.

I get weird 'comments' too, people trying to sell me things I don't want, and also that they can get more readers (do I need more readers? Having any readers is lovely but I don't want to have to pay in order to receive more, that is plain stupid) and also I keep being told that I don't "monetize" my blog, etc, etc. I'm not interested in any of it, I just delete 'em! Genuine people leave great comments and they are very much appreciated.

Couldn’t agree more! Funny old world...
