Ground control to...

Major Ted!

Work goes on a pace.  If there’s one thing I love and that is getting out there and doing stuff.  I suppose it comes from my other self sufficient life?  Oh and my very hands-on farming life.  I well remember a rep calling and saying to me
‘Look at your hands!’
Horror writ large on his face, as his well manicured digits hovered over his order pad!  I have my mum’s hands... large, capable!  I can still feel the stinging on the back of my legs as I ran ahead of her up the stairs, in trouble again!  And they say only children are spoilt!?!
Yes my hands are built for work, soil under the nails, I just love it!  No acrylic nails for me thank you!  Come to think of it it would be like putting lipstick on a pig... so wrong!
Anyway back to the greenhouse base.  The slabs have been jiggled about, it is now a case of levelling.  The husband is the main man here as my ‘That’ll do!’ mantra, all my life (yes really!) just won’t do.  Reluctantly I will be the second-in-command, novel but there you are!

  1. In the garden I do a lot of the 'heavy' work. Don't get me wrong, hubby has to do the actual building of things - I'm way too impatient to measure things properly and anyway he's so good at it! Like you I can't be bothered with nails (on the finger sort) they get in the way of so much. I often lay slabs then suffer backache for days after it! I built a wall using the old broken slabs we lifted when hubby redid the patio a million years ago and if I say so myself its a wonderful wall and no-one except me and hubby knows its old slabs! (well I suppose you know too now!) As for building a greenhouse, I left that to hubby, he's much more efficient at that sort of thing - I just stand in his way saying 'are you sure that's right?' I look forward to seeing your greenhouse in situ - hopefully straight! x

    1. Hadrian’s Wall was it? This is just for the base, we are getting the company who are making it to erect it. The price includes it, added to which himself says he has got to the age where it is best to get someone younger and fitter to do the job!

    1. Capable hands, what better? i am always amused at women with these talons of acrylic which let’s face it at the end of the day must feel alien... they certainly look it!

  3. My hands simply are square, but with long fingers, for getting under the roots of plants to transplant.
The lighter grey slabs are the base for the greenhouse?
    Are the walk pavers sandstone?

    1. Ideal for weaving as well!

The slabs for the base are just council grade cheapo paving. The other ones aren’t sandstone but what they are I have no idea? They are truly a tough nut to crack. When we get to the pond excavation we will need crow- bars to soften the edges.

  4. For many years I suffered from intense back pain which sometimes could not move. I practiced judo for more than 15 years of my life and at the end, back pain took me to all kinds of physical activity. A year ago my pains disappeared after using Doctor James herbal mix medicine thanks to his-natural treatment I found on the internet which anyone can contact him on his Email@drjamesherbalmix@gmail.com. A year has gone by...

and the sourdough saga continues, nothing much changes, apart maybe my level of frustration at my tarnished bread making skills of a ferment...
