fireplace.
The allotment is slowly being Letticed! Not Cos or Iceberg obviously!
The‘pot’I found looking forlorn, unloved even. I know, I will make it centre stage in my Steptoe-type allotment. Just need a couple of other likely old crones to join me in the initiation ceremony come the next full moon. Any offers? The Hythe gorilla rope makes a super edging well at least, that is my opinion.
The fireplace is huge, even the the fireplace man says he has never seen one so deep. Bearing in mind it is such a tweeny inglenook it looks as if it could incorporate a priest hole?
Both looking very interesting!
ReplyDeleteInteresting? Is that a polite word for pants?

Well, my hubby always says he thinks I was a witch in a previous life so I'd probably be an asset at your initiation ceremony, however, this pesky pandemic thing will probably preclude this any time soon, so you'll need to get started without me!
ReplyDeleteYour fireplace certainly looks deep and an odd shape? Are they not usually more squared off? Are you going to have a fire in it? It will be amazing. It looks like you could put a table in chairs in there and call it the dining nook! x
The log burner from the Orangery is going in there. Yes they are usually, however being a corner fireplace it sort of makes sense??? The pandemic shouldn’t stop broomstick flights, should it? No excuse there then...

I think Nicola would object. She doesn't want us to leave home!! ;) x
DeleteThe allotment will be beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you Joanne. Exciting times planning and planting.

Will you have an open fire or a wood burner in that glorious hole? Also, what will you plant in your central pot? A variety of slow growing fir might be nice...or a perennial wallflower.( Erysimum) Bowles Mauve flowers nearly all year.
ReplyDeleteA gunnera is already in there, it will be magnificent until it decides a pot isn’t for it then I will plant it beside the pond I am planning.

You have finished the lay out very nicely. putting the kettle on a slant is a great idea! As for the 4 little plot, you not said what will be planted in there... maybe you have not decided yet?... Just wondering the 'robe' did you painted it?
ReplyDeleteHow about that fireplace, where is it, what is going on, are you doing renovations? It would be nice to get more details...but only if you like to share!
It will be April before our snow is gone. Our plantings start in June which is way to late for my taste! In the meantime I will start seeds in the house where it is warm.
Hugs
Haven’t really decided what to grow yet? The gorilla rope do you mean? It is looking a tad sad and frayed now, still doing. job though.
DeleteThe weather here has been very cold and wet, a little snow which I love. Hugs really are the only currency in these chilly times.

Oh, if those stones could talk!!!!! That is a wonderful fireplace, and your allotment looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly what I said to the fireplace man... what tales they could tell?

Thinking of you. Hope all it well. Perhaps just busy with the planning and planting. Take Care. Ranee (MN) USA
ReplyDeleteRanee, thank you for your kind thoughts, I am well, just off blogging for the moment.

So glad you are okay. I look forward to your next post, when you're up for it. Ranee (MN) USA
DeleteMissing your postings....hope all is well? Hows about a photo of the gunnera in the pot?
ReplyDeleteFrances, have no fear I will return, be afraid, very afraid!

I haven't posted on my own blog since 31st January, because I've been nowhere, done nothing and my blogging mojo has GONE! I had my 1st jab (Pfizer) in early February so it will be end of April/beginning of May when I'm called for the 2nd one, then a further 3 weeks until (I'm told) my immunity will be at it's highest. The waiting seems endless. Maybe you are feeling the same? I do hope all is well with you and yours. (((((((HUG)))))))
ReplyDeleteIt’s not so much all of that, it’s as if like a first boyfriend I have fallen out of love with blogging. No worries, an old romantic like me will be fired up anytime soon...

I do hope so - and I'm waiting for inspiration, mojo start-up, blogging love, anything to return to me, too. Life as I knew it has paused . . .
DeleteJust wondering how things.....and you (your man and the dog) ...are. Missing your weird and wacky and sometimes very serious posts. Here’s hoping you return soon. Also hoping ‘your mum’ is ok
ReplyDeleteTake care
Cathy
I'm hoping it is your allotment that is enticing you away from your much-missed blog and not that something awful has happened. Like 'Cathy' I am really missing your posts and keep checking to see if you've returned. Much love to you and yours. x
