‘I didn’t think...

 dying would be like this!’

How many people have thought that this year I wonder?

The grim reaper on piecework this last year must have made scythe-loads of crypto coin?

Audrey is sat in an end of life ward... waiting...

Her only one designated visitor reports that on his last visit she was nowhere to be found.  Hold on, was that her under what he at first thought was a pile of bedding?  Audrey was sitting out of bed with her head on a table under the covers.

She is becoming more confused by the day.  Each day’s dementia questions she sails through, then sinks back into whichever otherworldly place she occupies?

Audrey in better days.

    1. Don’t look now but it seems like she is going home tomorrow. You just couldn’t make it up.

  2. So sad she's not getting the 'death' she wanted. I think we all hope to just go to bed and not wake up when the time suits us. Unfortunately, it rarely happens that way. However, you'll always remember she was a character to the end! xx

    1. I said exactly the same to her about dying in her sleep, her reply ‘No that’s not at all how I want to die, as it’s a once in a lifetime experience I want to be awake to experience it!’. Good point!

    1. Yes. Not at all the death she was expecting, although in her last email, just yesterday she said she isn’t ready yet...

    1. I feel powerless to be of much help, which is the very worst of it.

  6. You say she might be going home - maybe that’s what she wants. To die in her own bed. With luck (??) that could be a possibility.
She looked like a fun loving lively soul.

    1. That is exactly what she wants, trouble is Audrey has four visits a day and between times she just isn’t safe being alone.

Fun loving... surfing, motorcycling, university educated, she once sat an exam high as a kite on the drug of choice of the day. A true one, off.

  7. It's an uncontrollable and ugly business for some. My father compared it to riding a boxcar to Siberia, naked. My mother just said she was going to sleep now and did not intend to be waked again. Be kind; this is Audrey's trip.

    1. Couldn’t agree more. She is most definitely dying on her own terms. I don’t say a word, she knows I understand and of all her friends I am the one she claims that she can talk freely about her death to. All the other chums trot out the usual platitudes.

    1. I am thank you, just feel I want to do more, it wasn’t how we imagined it would be. But then that applies to millions at this very strange time in the world.
