5 am to see the wolf moon.
Himself peered out of the window, grunted and went back to bed.
Standing out by the heavily frost rimed car I looked and looked. A magical time of day in the cold morning. I stood a few minutes, sadly the actual didn’t live up to the anticipated.
‘I thought it would look a lot closer! I said as I climbed back into bed and snoozed what remained of the night away.
He staggered in carrying the largest, white card envelope covered with simply drawn stars. It had my name on it!
The contents were three wonderful abstracty paintings. Two landscapes and one I took to be of me? Well, I told you they were abstract! No note, just an address label on the the back.
Jo and ?
Trouble now is...
as hard as I try I can’t get back
to sleep to discover which Jo?
Quite a few years ago we were in Florida with our grandson who was 6 at the time when there was to be a blood moon. He said he wanted to see it so could we wake him up at 4am. Being the great grandparents we are, we set our alarm and checked out the moon before waking him and I have to say it was pretty impressive. There wasn't a cloud in the sky and it was deep red. Our grandson was very impressed and went back to bed happy. We on the other hand struggled to get back to sleep and spent the next day walking around like a half shut knife! However it was worth it to see his wee face. We took some photos too so when hubby said about last night I said, go and look at the Florida photos, it'll be much the same! Do you know many Jo's? I hope you find the culprit as there is nothing so frustrating as trying to find out who sent you something. Good luck. x
ReplyDeleteNo, silly, it was in my dream. Obviously staring up at a clear sky with lots of stars... oh and a reddish moon, triggered the dream! Hubs always says the things you write are open for misinterpretation, especially when I try to be funny!?! I once winged an email off to my son and wife, they got completely the wrong end of the stick... they thought I was crabby, I thought I was being a total comedienne!?!
DeleteLove your story, I could just see you two wandering around like a pair of zombies.

oops, sorry, didn't 'get' that bit! On the plus side you won't need to wonder who Jo is now :D Or maybe you will, who is this Jo who inhabits your dreams? LOL.
Deletewhy does your blog say I'm writing this at 08.45 when my computer tells me it 16.46? Is it a dream? Sorry, I just had to get that in! I'll be getting barred from here soon!!
DeleteI stayed in bed. The moon rises over the hill behind me, and I stayed in bed. Snow, ankle deep on my deck. I stayed in bed.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had too, no snow here just heavy frost in drag (snow?). At the very least you didn’t dream a magical looking parcel arrived strewn with stars!
DeleteKeep warm.

5am is morning, not night. It was foggy here so no chance of seeing it at all.
ReplyDeleteYes Rachel , in my normal world I only ever see one five o clock a day, fog or no!
