Speak to me about...

coloured wood floor stain...
please.
We are having the bedroom floor sanded. Wooden fitted wardrobes and ash doors, architrave and skirting boards complete the room.  Suddenly I had a thought, with all this wood I might wake up feeling like Goldilocks in the woods after scoffing all the three bears porridge.  Then a bright idea came to mind, I thought I might stain the floor. a lovely soft green.  Has anyone had any experience with staining or painting a wooden floor?  If so I would be pleased to hear your thoughts.

Not this migraine inducing colourful though!

This is the state of the weir thanks to the huge quantities of rain we’ve had.

  1. I have no experience of wood floors full stop. I'm more a carpet girl myself. I like the look of wooden floors but not the feel of them so I have no advice for you whatsoever! I think I'd actually quite like that colourful one though. I do like a colour or three! We're thinking of building an ark. I can't tell you how fed up I am of this 'summer' weather. Please tell me it will dry up and be sunny soon!!

    1. I am certainly enjoying the interior design element of living here. We are going off today to pick up a sewing machine table to put in the Wrenery. The table bought for there is now in the kitchen. Unfortunately the kitchen isn’t a cook’s work space.

The weather. Aah, the rain, least said about that the better! We had a wonderful day yesterday viewing the Secret gardens of Ludlow. It rained all morning then lifted for a good few hours to enable folk to get out and have a mosey around gathering ideas. And what an eye-opener that was! Got home and once again the rain returned. We WILL get some summer... you heard it here fist Marksgran!

  2. daughter used a special wax for wood floors. Looked beautiful and being specially for floors, wasn't skiddy...I think you could get it with colours. Made by Fiddes of Cardiff? I'm sure if you talk to a localwoodworker they'd know...ie not your superstore!!

  4. We've got wooden wardrobes, wooden doors, wooden skirting, same as you.
Wooden floors too, the original floorboards in our over 100 year old house. We've left them plain wood, once there is some colour on the walls and bed linen etc there doesn't look too much wood. It all blends perfectly.

    1. Maybe I will follow your lead because the stain is proving quite difficult to source. added to which the smallest amount I can buy is 1litre, which for a test is rather OTT.

A year has gone by...

and the sourdough saga continues, nothing much changes, apart maybe my level of frustration at my tarnished bread making skills of a ferment...
