One of my favourite expressions..

‘a fit with my leg in the air!’
One of many I ought to say.
However to match my wacky way of looking at the world I now have a table of the same persuasion...

This was one leg after himself battled all morning with our new garden table.

This is the solution, far from ideal however it did pass most of a day while we got to grips with the Chinese flat pack.

You will see his Heath Robinson answer to the problem, back left leg...
The top is bowed, so the next thing is will the glass stand the strain?

Ooh.. the excitements of
lock down.

  1. Well in our part of the world we lost money! We ordered a set of shutters for our front bedroom window back at the beginning of December and we were told they'd be 12 weeks. Of course that took us directly to the Chinese lock down and we assumed, rightly, our shutters were being made over there. We've now had several emails telling us the shutters are now on their way and will dock on 25th April. Then today our daughter phoned and said 'who did you order those shutters from?' Turns out the company went into liquidation yesterday so our deposit is lost. Especially when we were stupid enough to not use our credit card to pay for it. :( I've now told hubby he'll have to channel his inner Dick Strawbridge and make our own! Watch this space lol. If your table is new should you not take it back? Well of course that would probably be easier if shops were still open I suppose! Oh well its an opportunity for hubby to show his ingenius side!! Or indeed you! I'd hate to be accused of being sexist! xx

    1. Oh dear, poor you! Everything comes from China these days, even the you know what!?! I bet he gave you one of his very special looks at your suggestion... he’s got a walrus tache I take it? Well in the grand scheme of things I suppose this for us is nowt in comparison?

The table came flat packed, it looks very odd, I am worried it will shatter the glass top with the strain of it being so out of true. Tomorrow it will be de-assembled and packed back up. I must say I was quite looking forward to sitting there sewing in all these sunny days we have coming our way at the weekend... not to be.

  2. Good job you are refusing it. We pay too much money for this stuff to be bad. I've found though, the Chinese vendors generally are anxious to make good.

    1. Err... Joanne I think the vendors selling bats might have a case to answer, making good? Where do they start? Let’s face it a table is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

When this is all sorted I would like to buy some of your lovely tea towels. I have only fairly recently put them into action and what a super product they are!

  3. I see that it's twisted. How did this happen? Can it not be twisted back? Did it arrive twisted, or did someone twist it??? I think I know the answer.

    1. Sadly one of the sections where the screws go in is ever so slightly out of alinement, making the table twist. Himself battled with it to make the leg fit and this is the warped end product! Brute strength over brains... maybe?

A year has gone by...

and the sourdough saga continues, nothing much changes, apart maybe my level of frustration at my tarnished bread making skills of a ferment...
