I’ve got what I can...

only describe as a crush.
Before you all groan and think
what unsuspecting man has LL in her sights this time?
Let me tell you it is a woman.  I know, I know, hard though it may be to imagine I have just seen a programme on...
Germaine Greer...
she has no idea at this time
 yet she
is my newest, bestest, bestie!
What a woman, what an intellect, a winning killer way with words, sharp as a pin taking no prisoners.  What a stunning beauty she was in her time.

A few years ago a woman said to me you look just like Germaine Greer, I don’t mind admitting I was miffed as I peered into the mirror when I got home...

Now I’m taking it as a compliment!
How bloody shallow is that?

    1. Can’t agree more. A few well chosen words and her opponents are left whimpering in the corner. An accusation I once had levelled at me!?!

  2. Audrey.... is she O.K?
As for Germaine, I hope you don't look like her at 81 which I know you won't! You are a gentle soul and look as such!

  3. Audrey, after a weekend of no contact, today I finally got a message saying she is still alive and not ready for the off just yet! A tad crabby as well, as if I was fussing to even have the brass neck to enquire as to whether she was still alive!?! Vertigo is the latest, and pain high up in her tum? What a worry! And so the soap opera goes on.

Made me laugh... me a gentle soul (?) when I told the husband he said well you are!
You all want to see me from this side... that’s all I’ve got to say!

  4. When Audrey's time comes, I wish her a gentle passing without pain!
Lettice, O.K...O.K. maybe a little fire in the belly but that's about it!

    1. A little fire in the belly just about sums it up, not enough to get too worked up about. I have tended to drift through life rather than march!?! Far too lazy for much else, all too taxing!

  5. Glad to read Audrey is still alive and kicking you to touch! I'm not sure what I think of Germaine Greer. I'm afraid I was a very 50's type girl and had no time for womans lib. I loved being at home taking care of the children and the house and I worked part time to fit in around the children and my husband. We were and remain equal partners no matter who makes more money and we respect our differences. Over the years I've come to appreciate that for many woman it was more about being paid an equal amount for doing the same job and that I do agree with but we're not equal in all respects and I think we should appreciate the differences which seemed to go against all Germaine Greer stood for. I saw the programme you mentioned advertised and I decided not to watch it but I suspect she was probably ahead of her time and I was behind the times in those days so perhaps I should have watched it to see how I feel now! I'm glad you enjoyed it though and enough to be so fired up too! It's good to feel like that. x

    1. Good for you MG. Your marriage is a testament to your values, I applaud you.

Audrey does remind me of Germaine Greer, strong, intelligent, she has had an interesting life and I am sure her death will be under her own terms. Good for her I say!

  6. Hi Lattice,
I'm sorry to disagree with you, but maybe here in Australia we hear more about her. These days I find her to be a disgusting human being.
For example, when our first ever female Prime Minister was in office, Greer announced on live TV that she (the PM) wore the wrong clothes "for her big arse". Then there was the time she announced that she loved prepubescent boys.
Oh, and HRT. She admitted she tried it, but had unpleasant side effects. So did she go back to her doctor? No of course not. Instead she wrote a book (or maybe a long magazine article?) saying how dreadful doctors are, forcing women to take HRT whether they need it or not. I have many more such incidents to relate but have already taken up too much of your time.
And I bet you were better looking than Me Greer!

    1. Oooh, I do love an in-depth view, thank you for that. Now I think I must come clean here and admit my shallow view of her is that she says what she thinks and doesn’t seem to care. Also a keen intelligence is such a wondrous thing, at least to me, who has been far too idle to develop that muscle any more than other muscles in my old bod, The HRT she admitted on the programme to taking just to reach the rapidly drying parts of her ageing body that were struggling to accommodate a younger lover? That did make me smile. I got the impression the pills went the same way as the young man... kicked into touch!

The point I was making was more about me and how fickle I was to go from being disgruntled at the comparison to being pleased. It says a lot really.

    1. That happens a lot to me, it makes me mad when autocorrect thinks it knows what I want to say more than I do...as if!?!
